BB Whut?!?! BB de la Creme!

Honestly, the first thing that came to my mind when I heard of BB cream was the fashion company BeBe.  I thought the company was launching facial cream - NOT!

I saw a stream of commercials and ad pages on BB Creams by Garnier, Maybelline, Loreal, Lancome, Clinique, Dior etc.

Well... school time is in session and a girl of cosmetics had to research the BB in cream -- and here is what I discovered.  According  to Wikipedia, BB creams were created in the East and Southeast Asia.  BB Cream is also know as Blemish Balm, Blemish Base or Beblesh Balm (due to an apparent copyright on the word "Blemish").  In the 1950s, the cream was initially used to protect skin after laser procedures and surgery, while also providing light coverage.

There's the history lesson on BB Creams now lets bring it to the current times...

Now just to clarify - BB Cream is NOT Foundation, it's a moisturizer with a complexion tint to even out skin tone.  Most consumers gravitate to the BB Creams because it's a much lighter on the face and has a sheer feel to it.  Anything heavier might as well be foundation..

BB Cream is normally used during the warmer seasons like Spring and Summer.  But if you are a Diva who prefers not to wear a lot of make-up on a daily basis; you should consider using this to complete your look with a light touch.

In the latest commercials and magazine ads - you'll mostly see white women promoting BB Creams.. however -- do not fear black women BB Cream for you is near.. you can find dark shades of BB Creams within the mainstream brands such as L'Oreal, Maybelline, Garnier, Aveeno, Almay among some others.  However you can also find some luxury branded BB Creams in your local department stores beauty counters; Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Shisheido among some other counters.

Your price range for mass BB Cream is $10 - $20

Your price range for Dept Store BB Cream $40 - $50

I would suggest that women of color first try IMAN.. if you haven't done so already..

See below the shades that IMAN offers:

That's all for today folks -- thanks for tuning in for this lil tid-bit!
